This is a great film that grandads, dads and boys, especially, can enjoy (age appropriate 12+) on a Saturday afternoon in our lovely theatre. Hear Sean Smith, historian, during intermission and refreshments, discuss the author of the book film is based on, Lewis Wallace. Many do not know of this amazing gentleman and military man in history who suffered a great deal of persecution by his superiors and fellow officers after the civi war. He wrote this timeless piece in the 1870’s and it has been the inspiration to many as it emphasizes faith, bravery, and perseverance in the worst of circumstances. Amazing cinematography and action! There has never been a chariot race depicted on the screen that even begins to compare to that of Ben Hur!! You must see this on the big screen. Most have not, as it came out in 1959.
